The Public Service Commissioner is appointed by the Queen’s Representative on the advice of the Prime Minister and has collective accountability with Cabinet for the performance of the public service. The Commissioner provides strategic policy advice to Cabinet, sets human resources policy for the Public Service and is the Manager for Heads of Ministries. Our office is open between the hours of 8am and 4pm (GMT-10hrs), Monday to Friday.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a broad set of finance skills from extensive payroll experience to managing the company’s financial strategy.
· Degree in accounting or equivalent is an advantage · Expert in Microsoft office suite, especially Excel · Eye for detail · Strong communication skills · Strong knowledge of local tax laws · Experience with grant fund treatment is beneficial · Experienced with finance systems such as MYOB · Resourceful, problem solver with the ability to tackle any situation with a can-do attitude · Cook Islands Maori language a bonus · A self-starter with the ability to come up to speed quickly · Public & Private sector experience beneficial
