The Cook Islands Government, through the Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC), and Global Sea Mineral Resources (GSR), a Belgium Company which is part of the multinational organisation, the Deme Group, entered into a Framework Agreement in 2013 with regards to the deep sea harvesting of Polymetallic Nodules in the Cook Islands licensed International Seabed Authority (ISA) area and the Cook Islands Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). In 2016, CIIC and GSR formally established a Cook Islands joint venture company, CIIC Seabed Resources Limited (CIICSR). CIICSR has to date completed two exploration expeditions in the ISA area and one research expedition in the EEZ. CIICSR’s vision focusses on carrying out its business in an environmentally responsible way, creating a transformational shift to the Cook Islands economy, sound returns returned to shareholders, innovative technology is utilised and capacity is built within the sector for the future. The Board of CIICSR is looking to employ an Establishment General Manager. The General Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and ensuring the realisation of the business plan of the joint venture company, build and strengthen client relations as well as develop, structure and manage the joint venture company in alignment with the overall business strategy, in order to achieve company objectives. CIICSR is looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual, reporting to the CIICSR Board. Applicants must be able to work in a high pressure environment and be adaptable and versatile in dealing with a variety of challenges and different stakeholders. Knowledge of the Cook Islands culture and language is preferred.
