The Public Service Commissioner Russell Thomas was joined by strong team of representatives of the Cook Islands Government at the recent Cook Islands University Students Ta’okotai’anga, held at Otago University from 28 August – 1 September 2019. Joining the Public Service Commissioner were the Cook Islands High Commissioner to New Zealand, HE Elizabeth Koteka, the two Kia Orana Ambassadors from the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation, Aunties Nane Matapo and Lydia Nga, including Daniel Fisher, and Tekura Moeka’a from the National Environment Service.
The Ta’okotai’anga, is an annual event hosted by Cook Islands tertiary students based in New Zealand. It provides them with an opportunity to connect with each other to celebrate their identity and culture – through cultural performances, sporting activities, debates and other events. OPSC is interested to network with the students as well as the broader Cook Islands community to promote employment opportunities back home.
