Day 3 of the Environmental Management & Monitoring Workshop kicked off with discussions on the Environmental management of seabed activities.
The conference covered topics including seabed minerals laws under development, the status of available technologies, as well as the testing of mining components during exploration.
Legal expert, Chris Brown presented a legal perspective on environmental management and monitoring. Brown recently resided in the Cook Islands providing advice to SBMA and NES as a consultant.
Gerald McCormack from the Cook Islands Natural Heritage Trust also presented on the Cook Islands Seabed Minerals - a precautionary approach to close day 3.
