OPSC is pleased to announce that the Official Duty Travel, Leaving the Service and Motor Vehicle Policies have been reviewed and updated. The Official Duty Travel Policy's update is effective as of June 2019 and it highlights include confirming the domestic travel allowance matrix and international travel insurance information. The Leaving the Service Policy's update which was effective May 2019 highlights include clarifying the Voluntary Retirement pay-out calculation which is based on the 'gross fortnightly salary' correcting previous references. The Motor Vehicle Policy updates effective as of April 2019 highlights include expansion of scope to include definition of heavy machinery, inclusion of the MV Accident Form template and reference to the Government Fleet Management Policy 2018. These policies and many others are available on the Cook Islands Government Shared Folder (L:Drive); on our website and from our office in Avarua.

The Public Service Commissioner is appointed by the Queen’s Representative on the advice of the Prime Minister and has collective accountability with Cabinet for the performance of the public service. The Commissioner provides strategic policy advice to Cabinet, sets human resources policy for the Public Service and is the Manager for Heads of Ministries. Our office is open between the hours of 8am and 4pm (GMT-10hrs), Monday to Friday.
