[Media Release - OPM] Leaving a legacy for a brighter future

Wednesday 19th February 2020

With Te Kaveinga Nui – National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2020 (NSDP) coming to an end it is time to start planning for the future of development in our country and what that will look like.

The Central Policy and Planning Office (CPPO) at the Office of the Prime Minister are embarking on developing an exciting new 2020+ Sustainable Development Agenda. We have constituted a National Sustainable Development Agenda (NSDA) working group who have met to look at the plan going forward. CPPO will update everyone as soon as possible on this plan once it has been approved by the working group.

The NSDA working group consists of a cross-sector of society looking at particular thematic areas including but not limited to social, environment, health, education, and economic, cultural, spiritual, infrastructure, legal.

What is important will be the involvement of all aspects of society throughout the country and the diaspora community in the development of this new direction. We will aim to consult widely with various stakeholders including the Pa Enua.

We look forward to the constructive and robust debate in sustainable development into the future.
