My name is Frances Moata Mareva Willis.
I was born and raised in Rarotonga, and come from the Ngati More and Ngati Marama clans.
I am a blend of Cook Islands (Rarotonga, Aitutaki and Atiu), Irish and English descent.
I am the proud mum of my four beautiful children.
I have spent 19 years of working life with Air Rarotonga Ltd, working my way through to the position of Head Flight Attendant. The professional development gained through my time with Air Rarotonga has provided me with transferable skills in areas such as office management and human resource management. Unfortunately, due to the economic impact of COVID-19 we have all been experiencing, prompted me to start looking for fulltime work in the Public Sector.
I am thankful for the skills and experiences I attained from working with Air Rarotonga Ltd, which put me in a good position for the Human Resource Advisor job with the Office of the Public Service Commissioner (OPSC), which I have recently been appointed.
I have only been in the job for two weeks, and I can tell you that my Induction into the business of OPSC navigating my way through the Public Sector Strategy, OPSC Strategy and Business Plan, getting stuck in the operations of it all, and then joining other public service employees in the two days Public Service Induction training has been quite a whirlwind, eye-opening experience. The learning has just been amazing!
OPSC is a Central Agency that works across the Public Service/Sector. In my opinion, it is a good place for me to learn and grow in the human resource area. Just being here has confirmed for me that I want to continue to grow and establish a career in human resource management because I enjoy working with people. Human Resource Management is about supporting employees and making sure they are being treated fairly and in accordance to the Human Resource Policies. That’s me!
I hope to be able to contribute towards achieving a Public Service of Excellence.
