Te Cook Islands Tourism Corporation farewells Metua Vaiimene, who finishes from his role as the Director of Destination Development on 12th February 2021. Metua served in this role since November 2010 during transformational years of building a strong platform in tourism destination development. Metua has played a pivotal role in developing key programmes like the Kia Orana Values, Vaka Pride, Tourism event development, infrastructure support to the Pa Enua, the Cook Islands Sustainable Tourism Goals and a suite of tourism research analysis. Halatoa Fua, CEO of the Corporation, shares “Metua’s passion and dedication to his role have been exemplary to the Corporation. The team will deeply miss his high spirits and enthusiasm about the development of the Cook Islands as a whole. We wish Metua the very best in his next exciting chapter in life”. The Corporation appoints Christian Mani as the interim Director of Destination Development while performing his duties as the Cook Islands Tourism General Manager for North America. Due to the halting of international travel from North America, Christian has returned to be based in the Cook Islands. The Corporation continues to assess the COVID-19 situation and a pathway towards restarting its work in key source markets.
