[MINTAFF - Media Release] Introducing WORKPLACE INDUCTION SESSIONS in the Cook Islands

The Labour and Consumer Inspectorate will begin offering workplace induction sessions to all employers and employees in the Cook Islands. Sessions will take place every Thursday mornings, from 930am to 11am, starting the 5th of March 2020.

All are welcome to attend the sessions at the Ministry of Internal Affairs conference room. For Pa Enua stakeholders, the respective INTAFF officers will relay the induction sessions as requested by the community.

The workplace induction aims to prevent, improve and address any unfair working conditions, in particular the ongoing exploitation of workers. Knowing more about our working rights and obligations help us work better together and continously improve our work environment and relationships. By attending one of our induction sessions, Employers can also better prepare their contracts and policies for their business, as a preventative way to avoid employment disputes.

Not only does the Induction assist businesses and workers to understand and follow the employment laws, it will also provide guidance on how to keep the workplace environment healthy and safe. It will also raise awareness on how to address workers compensation claims for workplace related injuries and illness. In addition, the inspectors will clarify the obligations and rights around the provision of services and goods following the consumer and fair trading laws.

It is a good opportunity to address any issues in a safe and confidential space. So come along and join us for an informative and interesting session.

See you there ! Ka Mako !
