The Ministry of Justice ("MOJ") conducted a successful Ministry retreat for its Rarotonga staff on Friday 25th October 2019 at the Crown Beach Resort. The theme of the event was "Building Unity & Moving Forward as One." MOJ Secretary, Tamatoa Jonassen, commented that it was an opportunity to pause and reflect on how far we have come as a Ministry, and prepare for the journey ahead. He stated further, "we are pursuing positive changes at the Ministry. We are just emerging from a substantial restructure and are focusing on our new Strategic Plan 2019-24." With the addition of a number of new staff at MOJ, it was an appropriate time to re-energize the hard working team at MOJ. The activities were planned and facilitated by Kimiora Ariki, who volunteered her time and resources to help MOJ with the retreat. She has experience doing such events in Australia, and was very happy to help when she learned of what MOJ was planning. Tamatoa commented further, "the activities were challenging and customized to our Ministry and local context, with a focus on our Strategic plans. It was a real joy to see the talent, creativity, and team bonding during the retreat." MOJ has a 5-year Strategic plan that has commenced, "...we still have a long journey. We will continue to need the support from other government Ministries/Agencies and our community for our dedicated team at the Ministry..." stated Tamatoa. The retreat was supported by both the OPSC Commissioner Russell Thomas and the Minister of Justice Rose Brown. [END]
