Public Service Induction: Upskilling of Public Servants

The Office of the Public Service Commissioner regularly delivers a two-day Public Service Induction training. The induction covers topics that include - the history of the Cook Islands and its voyage to self-governance; the Systems of the Government and its key features; key people and central agencies; Standards of conduct such as political neutrality and conflict of interest; Human resources (HR) policies that address a number of HR issues, health and safety and dealing with official information requests.

In the words of Tekura Moeka'a, OPSC HR Advisor, "As the Cook Islands Public Service journeys through its voyage to deliver on the vision of 'Public Service of Excellence', it is important that (we) the Public Servants are onboard to ensure that our Public Sector remains relevant and response by delivering quality goods and services through effective leadership and governance. It is envisaged that this induction program is one step of many to attain excellence."
