The Public Service Commissioner invites applications for the position of:
POLICE COMMISSIONER FOR THE COOK ISLANDS POLICE SERVICE

As the Commissioner of Police (CoP) for the Cook Islands Police Service, you are accountable for operational command of the statutory functions and powers of the Commissioner of Police under the Police Act 2012.

You are also accountable for the governance and oversight of functions set out in other legislations and to serve with courage, integrity, knowledge, skills and innovation.

The CoP enables the Cook Islands Police Service to carry out the functions and duties of Police by developing systems:-
•for ensuring the effective, efficient and economic management of Police;
•for maintaining law and order in relation to any individual or group of individuals; and
•to serve with courage, integrity, knowledge, skills and innovation.

Qualification requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Law, Policing, Management, Human Resource Development, Finance or Economics; and
•Evidence of participation and contribution to regional and international policing organisations.

Experience
•15+ years of strong, credible experience in Policing with at least 5 years management experience at Inspectors level;
•A strong understanding of the role and work of the Cook Islands Police Service; and

Key Skills
•A strong understanding of the role and work of the Cook Islands Police Service.
•Strong analytical skills and thorough understanding of Policing priorities and challenges.
•Excellent leadership skills in a multi-faceted public organisation.
