The Cook Islands Audit Office (CIAO) is established under article 71 of the Constitution of the Cook Islands and section 20 of the Public Expenditure Review Committee and Audit Act 1995-96 to assist Parliament in strengthening the effectiveness, efficiency and accountability of the instruments of Government. The DIRECTOR OF AUDIT, is a senior executive position, and will be responsible for:
• The leadership and management of Crown Financial audits,
• Performance audits and anti-corruption mandates under the Public Expenditure Review Committee and Audit Act 1995 – 96 and its relations with Parliament, Cabinet, Ministries, State Owned Enterprises, international and regional organizations and key stakeholders.
Applicants will be required to have a minimum of:
• 10 years senior management work experience in auditing, finance, public administration or related fields, and
• A recognized international degree level qualification preferably in accounting, commerce, finance or closely related discipline (a Masters degree in the related field or be a holder of the Chartered Accountant title is an advantage).
This is a fixed term appointment for a period of three (3) years.
